Give the gift of clean water
Save lives by giving clean water to African communities
Clean water is essential to leading a healthy life. But so many African communities lack access to safe water sources.
This means that people either have to walk many kilometres to reach clean water, or risk death from preventable diseases.
But this doesn’t have to be the case – and you can help.
In one urban slum in Harare, Zimbabwe, the generosity of the AE family over the past few years has ensured that no person is forced to consume dirty water.
At the Hopely Amsterdam slum settlement, a bore hole has been drilled to provide clean water 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to almost 70,000 people.
Guide, the AE Zimbabwe team leader, shares:
“Oh what a difference you made to this community! Women were travelling five kilometres to fetch clean water. Some community members were suffering from waterborne diseases. Over 25 people had drowned in several shafts dug during the wet seasons in an effort to create shallow wells. But now the bore hole is one of the main sources of clean water and it is a pillar of hope.”
Most significantly, the Hopely Amsterdam settlement was protected from a recent serious typhoid and cholera outbreak, because no one had to turn to contaminated water sources.
Your gift today can help more communities like this one by providing clean water, so please give generously to meet the $46,000 goal by 31 March.
